Domestic Herbicide Technical Market Sees Broad-Based Price Increases

This week, the domestic herbicide technical market recorded broad-based price increases across several major products, with quotations for glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium, and L-glufosinate all moving higher. According to market monitoring data, as of March 23, 2026, the upward movement in core product prices has supported overall market activity.

In terms of specific quotations, the glyphosate technical market continued its upward trend, with suppliers maintaining a cautious shipment pace. Quoted prices for 95% glyphosate technical reached RMB 29,500 per ton, while 97% glyphosate technical exceeded RMB 30,000 per ton. In the glufosinate ammonium segment, producers reported relatively full order books, with market quotations around RMB 49,000 per ton. Supported by upstream price movements, the converted quotation for L-glufosinate technical reached RMB 59,000 per ton.

Market participants noted that the increase in glyphosate prices above RMB 30,000 per ton has drawn attention across the herbicide value chain. At the same time, suppliers have generally adopted low-inventory and controlled-shipment strategies, which have helped keep supply relatively measured during the recent price rise. Compared with the trading range seen over the past two years, current quotations have moved to a higher level.

This round of price increases has also shown transmission across related product segments. Glyphosate, as a major bulk herbicide product, has led the recent upward movement, followed by higher quotations in glufosinate ammonium and L-glufosinate. Market conditions in these segments reflect a combination of supply, demand, and cost factors.

From a market fundamentals perspective, several factors are currently being watched closely. On the supply side, new capacity remains limited, while environmental and production safety requirements continue to affect effective supply. On the demand side, stable planting demand has supported baseline consumption for herbicides. In addition, raw material, energy, and logistics costs have continued to provide support for market pricing.

Overall, recent developments indicate that the domestic herbicide technical market remains firm in the near term, with industry participants continuing to monitor supply conditions, downstream demand, and cost changes across the value chain.
