Argentina will Ban Imports of Chlorpyrifos and Chlorpyrifos-methyl in September


On August 6, 2021, Argentina's national agricultural food health and quality service department issued resolution 414/2021 in the official bulletin. Argentina decided to prohibit the production, import, commercialization and use of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos methyl and phytosanitary products containing these two active ingredients.


The resolution shall take effective from the date of issuance, the import ban will be implemented on the 45th day after the resolution takes effect, the production ban will be implemented 90 days after the resolution takes effect, the ban on commercialization and use will be implemented 455 days after the resolution takes effect.The import of active ingredients and products specially used for preparing plant quarantine products for export is not restricted by prohibition.


In addition, since the 575 days of the resolution came entry into effect, Argentina will ban the import and production of agricultural and sideline products with chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos methyl residues above 0.01 mg/kg.
