THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL SUGGESTION ON GROUNDNUTS

Groundnut is grown on nearly 23.95 million Ha worldwide with the total production of 36.45 million tons. China, India, Nigeria, USA and Myanmar are the major groundnut growing countries. However, the low groundnut productivity in many developing countries remains a cause of concern to the scientific community and policy makers.

Groundnut crop is affected by several diseases and pests at different crop growth stages. It is essential that the growers know how to recognize the symptoms on time and take preventive and control measures to avoid yield reduction.

COMMON DISEASES OF GROUNDNUT:

Root rot, crown rot, white stem rot, fruit rot, brown spot, black spot, rust, bacterial wilt, scab, virus disease, root-knot nematode, etc.

COMMON PESTS OF GROUNDNUT:

Underground pests, cotton bollworm, Spodoptera litura, beet armyworm, aphids, thrips, spider mites, etc.

MANAGEMENT MEASURES IN GROUNDNUT GROWTH STAGES

Sowing

Rotate crops with corn and other grass crops, and choose the seeds with resistance to diseases and pests. According to the records of soil-borne diseases and underground pests, fungicides can be mixed with insecticides for seed treatment, such as Fludioxonil, Metalaxyl-M and Imidacloprid, Thiamethoxam, and Clothianidin. King's CropArmor (AI: Thiamethoxam + Difenoconazole + Fludioxonil FS) is recommended for groundnut seed treatment. When dressing seeds, plant growth regulators (brassinolide, indolebutyric acid or oligosaccharins, etc.) can promote plant growth and development, and enhance resistance to stress, diseases and pests. During sowing, Beauveria bassiana and metarhizium anisopliae can be furrowed to control underground pests.

Seedling Stage

In the early stages of stem rot, root rot, crown rot, spray the fungicides (Thifluzamide and Tebuconazole, Pyraclostrobin, etc.) to the base of the plant stem. Sucking pests, such as aphids, thrips, spider mites, etc. can be controlled by insecticides, such as Abarmectin And Deltamethrin. Meanwhile, if underground insects (grubs, wireworms, cutworms) occur, Lambda-cyhalothrin and Cyfluthrin are recommended, which can be used for root irrigation.

From Flowering, Pegging to Pod Fill, Maturity Stage

In the early stages of leaf diseases, such as brown spot, black spot, rust, etc., the biological pesticides (Bacillus subtilis, etc.) or chemical fungicides (Epoxiconazole, Pyraclostrobin, and Azoxystrobin, Difenoconazole, etc.) are recommended. And if it occurs peanut Sclerotium blight, root rot, collar rot, crown rot, stem rot, fruit rot, it is recommended to spray the base of the peanut stems.

When the emergence of adult insects (cotton bollworm, Spodoptera litura, beet armyworm, grubs, cutworms, etc.), light lures, hormone traps, and food lures are recommended. If it occurs young larvae, biological insecticide (Bacillus thuringiensis, multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus, chlorbenzuron) and chemical pesticide (Deltamethrin, etc.) are recommended. Meanwhile, in the pod development stage, it is recommended to use Phoxim GR or Thiamethoxam GR for controlling underground insects.

If peanut plants grow vigorously, it is recommended that plant growth regulators (Uniconazole, King's Prohex (Prohexadione calcium) or Paclobutrazol+ Mepiquat chloride) should be rationally used to regulate the growth in the flowering to pegging stage.

King's Prohex.png

King's Prohex, an innovative formulation developed by King Quenson team for balance and regulate endogenous hormones in the plant, and can be applied on majority of crops and fruit trees, such as wheat, corn, peanut, soybean, rice, potato, sweet potato, beet, cucumber, chrysanthemum, cabbage, carnation, citrus, apple and etc.:

1. Reduction in vegetative shoot growth

2. Superior lodging resistance

3. Simplify orchard management

4. Great-looking fruit

5. Stronger crops, increase yields

King's CropArmor.png

King’s CropArmor is a triple compound product consisting of one insecticide Thiamethoxam, and two fungicides Fludioxonil and Difenoconazole. King’s CropArmor provides broad spectrum protection against both early-season leaf-feeding and soil-dwelling insect pests, as well as soil-borne and seed-borne diseases.

King’s CropArmor forms a stable, uniform film on the seed, allowing for even coating and coloring. The coating dries quickly and adheres well on the seeds.
