King's Proud, a Highly Cost-Effective Non-Selective Herbicide
According to the estimates compiled by the FAO, by 2050 we will need to produce 60% more food to feed a world population of 9.7 billion. Worldwide damages generated by weeds are responsible for a loss of 13.2% of crop yields, equals to the food for about 1 billion people. Weed management plays a key role in achieving global food and nutrition security. Because of the rapid growth and wide spreading of the weeds, and the high intensity of manual weeding, the use of cost-effective herbicides becomes an important measure to control weeds.
Non-selective herbicides play an essential role in weed management which can effectively kill or injure any plants that it contacts. They are cost-effective and widely used in all kinds of crop land, greenhouses, horticulture and non-crop land.
Glyphosate, Paraquat and Glufosinate-ammonium are the TOP 3 well known non-selective herbicides in the world. Paraquat has been banned in many countries after it was found to cause poisoning and Parkinson's disease. Glyphosate and Glufosinate-ammonium became the mainstream products of non-selective herbicides, but still facing varies problems. Due to the massive use of Glyphosate, farmers desperately need alternative herbicide to control the high emergence of Glyphosate-resistant weeds. But conventional Glufosinate-ammonium cannot become this qualified substitute for the time being because of its high cost of use.
And now, King Quenson provides farmers an improved formulation of Glufosinate-ammonium, King's Proud, which is a non-selective, contact herbicide against toughest weeds at lower dosage.
The conventional Glufosinate-ammonium consists of the L-glufosinate and the D-glufosinate, each taking up 50%, but only the L-glufosinate is active to kill the weeds.
While King’s Proud only contains the active L-glufosinate, which means King’s Proud has the following features comparing to conventional Glufosinate-ammonium:
1. Multiplied Activity
The herbicidal activity of King's Proud is 1.5 to 2 times that of the conventional Glufosinate-ammonium. Therefore the dosage of King's Proud can be reduced 50% (e.g. 20% SL, 1.5-2.25 L/ha), which can significantly reduce the cost of technical materials, adjuvants, packaging and transportation. The direct benefit to farmers is that the actual cost of using King's Proud is not only much lower than conventional Glufosinate-ammonium, it is even at the same cost level as Glyphosate.
2. Broad-Spectrum Weeds Control
King's Proud can effectively control most of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds and grasses, especially to Glyphosate-resistant weeds such as Goosegrass (Eleusine indica), Horseweed (Erigeron canadensis) and etc.
In addition, there have been no reports of weed resistance developed to King's Proud.
3. Fast-Acting and Long-Lasting Protection
After using King's Proud, the treated weeds stop growing within the first day of application. The visual symptoms appear in 2 to 3 days, include yellowing, chlorosis, wilting, scorching, necrosis and etc. And the complete death of the weeds usually occurs in 7 to 10 days. If the temperature is lower to 15-20°C the complete death will occur in 15 to 20 days.
Meanwhile, King's Proud provides long-lasting protection for 25 to 30 days for sensitive weeds and 10 to 20 days for moderate sensitive weeds.
4. Safer for Crops and Environmental Friendly
King's Proud degrades rapidly in the soil, so it does not harm the roots or the soil. As King's Proud only affects the parts of the plant where it is applied, farmers can rely on it to guarantee a high level of crop safety.
Meanwhile, King's Proud is more environmental friendly as it only contains the active L-glufosinate, resulting in a 50% reduction in the release of inactive isomer into the soil.
There’s no doubt that King's Proud brings another excellent choice of non-selective herbicide for farmers, especially when facing Glyphosate resistant weeds and Paraquat is already banned. King’s Proud is a trusted herbicide to fight against weeds, enabling farmers to grow high quality, safe and affordable food to people all around the world.
